Weddings at St Brelade's Parish Church
PLEASE NOTE:
Marriages in Anglican churches in Jersey are dependent upon residential qualification.
You may marry in one of our churches if:
1) You are resident in the Parish of St Brelade.
2) You have a demonstrable pastoral connection i.e. your parents live in the Parish, you have lived in the Parish, or
your parents were married here.
3) You were baptised here or are currently part of our
worshipping community.
Without at least one of these connections you cannot be married in an Anglican church under Jersey Ecclesiastical Law.
Please be aware that similar rules apply for Wedding Blessings, Blessings after a Civil Ceremony and Renewal of Wedding Vows. As you can appreciate, St Brelade's Church is very pretty and in a beautiful location and so we get hundreds of requests a year for Weddings, Blessings or Renewal of Vows from people who do not fall into the above categories - regretfully our answer will always be the same, that in order to have a ceremony here, you have to fulfil one of the above criteria. We do not like having to say 'no' to people, but unfortunately we can't accommodate everyone!

In The Church of England the re-marriage of divorcees is at the discretion of the marrying officer (clergy). In St Brelade we try to meet people in an open and generous way, if one or other of you is divorced you will need to meet first with the Rector to talk about the possibility of a Church wedding.
Bookings are normally made through the Church Administrator on the email link below. These need to be made in person as we cannot work through a third party e.g. a Wedding Planner. :

Weddings at St Brelade's Church normally take place on a Saturday, and can be either at 12noon or 3pm. But weddings on a Friday are also sometimes available.
There are usually 2 interviews prior to the wedding which will also give you an opportunity to ask any questions and be assured that all the arrangements for the day will run smoothly. If you do not currently reside in the Parish, a Dean's Licence will be required. This will be organised for you by the Rector.
For your information: Charges for weddings in Jersey are different from those set in the UK and are set by the Dean of Jersey at the beginning of each year, you will be informed of these fees when you attend for your first wedding meeting.
